The Africa Cup of Nations 2025 in Morocco continued to deliver gripping knockout-stage drama as Egypt and Nigeria sealed their places in the quarter-finals. With incredible performances, crucial goals, and moments of individual brilliance, both sides showed the pedigree expected of African football giants as the tournament moves deeper into the business end.

Egypt Hold Nerve to Advance

Egypt booked their spot in the last eight after a composed and well-managed victory in the Round of 16. The Pharaohs relied on their experience and tactical maturity, controlling long spells of possession while keeping their defensive structure tight.

A decisive goal in the second half separated the two sides, reflecting Egypt’s ability to remain patient and capitalize when opportunities arise. Their backline stood firm under pressure, ensuring the narrow lead was protected until the final whistle.

The result reinforces Egypt’s credentials as one of the tournament favorites, with the record seven-time champions again demonstrating their trademark calmness in knockout football. They now look ahead to a quarter-final tie that promises intensity and high stakes as they continue their pursuit of continental glory.

Nigeria Power Through With Confident Display

Nigeria also secured progression to the quarter-finals after a determined and energetic performance. The Super Eagles used their attacking pace and physicality to great effect, constantly stretching their opponents and forcing errors in defense.

A clinical finish gave Nigeria the breakthrough, and despite late pressure, the team showed resilience and composure to see out the match. The victory has boosted confidence within the camp, with supporters believing the squad has all the tools needed to challenge for the title.

With their structure solid and key forwards finding form, Nigeria will enter the quarter-finals as one of the most dangerous teams left in the tournament.

With Egypt and Nigeria now joining the list of quarter-finalists, AFCON 2025 edges toward even fiercer competition. Their qualification:

Sets up blockbuster encounters ahead

As the drama builds in Morocco, both nations will look to tighten their grip on the tournament and continue their push toward the semi-finals.
